Hi, I'm Damian, the person behind Fishjup.

I started this business back in November 2023, working out of Geldrop, a small town tucked in the south of the Netherlands. It wasn't originally just about lighting. I've always liked working with my hands and helping people around the house, from small fixes to bigger renovation jobs, and that side of things still keeps me busy too. But somewhere along the way, I found myself drawn specifically to lighting, and desk lamps in particular.

There's something satisfying about a good desk lamp. It's such a small object, but it changes how a whole room feels. The right light can make a late night of studying easier, turn a boring home office into somewhere you actually want to sit, or just make reading in the evening more comfortable. I got a bit obsessed with finding lamps that actually do that well, instead of just looking nice in a photo and then disappointing you once they're on your desk.

So that's what Fishjup is about. I go through the options myself, think about brightness, adjustability, build quality, and price, and only keep the ones I'd genuinely put on my own desk. It's still just me running things day to day, so when you reach out, you're talking to the person who actually picked the products, not a call center.
